E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
''The new engine is charged by 2 stages until the large exhaust gas turbocharger starts and the phase is bridged by an additional electrical compressor. The electric turbocharger accelerates within 300 milliseconds to 70,000 revolutions and provides for a lot of dynamics without turbocharger''

So the electric turbo has 2 stages ? and then the gas turbocharger will kick in at higher RPMs ?

The translation is not very clear.

Some details of the M256 engine in upcoming E50 AMG model revealed:
Impressive MB are producing some nice engines lately. Maybe ditching the V8 isn't such a bad thing after all. The E50 AMG should easily outperform the previous E550 and E43 if it's not replaced.

Over 500HP will top the current V8 in its base tune. Don't think AMG will do that.
That's true. So I guess anything between 408hp(will be available at 450 series soon) to 476hp. Surprisingly, the new S560(non amg) will produce the same amount of power as the c63 amg non s. The c63 amg is due for a power upgrade?

E50: most likely a great engine, but why that forced 4Matic? Offer it at least RWD as well. Same with the E400 (German specs and 333 hp). If I want to drive a petrol 6 cylinder I HAVE to take it with AWD. There's no other, RWD-only 6 cylinder available. S400 6 cylinder petrol, also AWD-only. Personally I find that really absurd.

Hmmmm. I need 450hp please. M550i and S6 are past 425hp NOW.

Its not official yet, but most likely close to the official specs.

Why would you need RWD? If it is rwd based awd, then I see no problem.
If it was rwd only it would be obsolete compared to competition. And not just by competition, Tesla S is also there.

Why would I need AWD? I like RWD cars, not AWD. Besides, where I live you never need AWD. I don't care about the what the competition does, I only care about my own automotive needs. I don't want the extra weight, the influence AWD has on the steering, the extra cost and the extra fuel it needs. It's modern day hype to put AWD under every car. And I don't like to be forced into something like AWD; like to have a choice and not an obligatory AWD.

I don't understand why Mercedes are launching these new S-class models only has AWD, is this initiative in response to Audi Quattro with added benefit of extra traction? The AWD system adds at least 70kg to the overall weight, it is most likely less dynamic than RWD version, changes the steering behavior and feel due to extra driveline forces of the extra driveshafts, it will increase the fuel consumption and emissions and I think it won't be necessary with the inline 6 engines as they not overburdened with extreme power and RWD should be able to handle their power and torque levels.

RWD version of the S350d is coming though, probably end of this year.
