911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche: collector's car in honour of the visionary designer
Congratulations, Ferdinand Alexander (F. A.) Porsche. Today, the visionary designer would have been 90 years old. To mark this milestone birthday, the sports car manufacturer has created a special four-wheeled gift: the new 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche. The exterior and interior of this individualised commemorative model have been inspired by a G-Series 911 that was driven by F. A. Porsche in the 1980s. 90 units, which also feature elegant Heritage Design elements, will be built by Porsche Sonderwunsch. One of which has been purchased by his son, Mark Porsche. Buyers of the collector's model can look forward to a unique experience, where they can further individualise their own anniversary car. The 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche will be...

Unique Factory Re-Commission: Porsche Carrera GT in Salzburg Design
Victor Gómez from Puerto Rico had a very special wish come true at the Porsche Sonderwunsch Manufaktur: his 20-year-old Carrera GT was technically restored to new condition and given a Salzburg design reminiscent of the legendary livery of the 1970 Le Mans winning 917. The interior has also been individualized and refined with red Alcantara and matt carbon. The Austrian city of Salzburg is known for its old town, for the festival, for Mozartkugeln – and for a special racing car design: in 1970, Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood clinched the first overall victory for Porsche at Le Mans in the eye-catching red and white 917 short-tail with the starting number 23. Motorsport fans know the striking look of this prototype for the Sports Car...

Porsche Carrera GT: A legendary supercar marks its milestone
A quarter of a century ago, Porsche presented a study in Paris that set standards in technology, design and driving dynamics: The Carrera GT. The V10, originally developed for Le Mans, was derived from the LMP 2000 – a prototype that was never put into a race but saw its second wind in the Carrera GT. A quarter of a century ago, a car premiered that is considered a milestone in many ways: the Porsche Carrera GT. Presented at the Paris Motor Show in September 2000 as a close-to-series sports car study, the car with a V10 engine entered series production three years later. Shortly before, Walter Röhrl piloted the open sports car in front of the international media through the rain from the Arc de Triomphe to the Louvre. “The Carrera GT...

Staying Power: the Porsche 911 drive technology
#porsche #911 #porsche911 #911drive #porschetech The story of the Porsche 911 drive technology is a story of continuous innovation and unique heritage. The highlight for now: high-performance partial hybridization for the 992 generation. The interim result after six decades of 911 drive development: twice the displacement, four times the power, and an unchanged basic concept. “We’re surprised again and again at how improvable and adaptable the six-cylinder boxer engine is,” says Thomas Krickelberg, Head of Operating Excellence in the 911/718 series. Going forward, there will be an electric exhaust gas turbocharger for even greater power and thrust coupled with lower emissions. So, as it enters its seventh decade, what is the fantastic...

#porsche #macan #porschemacan #suv #porschesuv #macanturbo #porschemacanturbo #macan4s #macan4 The new Porsche Macan with rear-wheel drive is available immediately as the new point of entry to the all-electric SUV model series. Next to it, the new Macan 4S is positioned in the upper performance range of the model programme. Porsche 911 Turbo through Paris for the 50th birthday
#porsche #porsche911 #911 #911turbo #porsche911turbo #paris #50thbirthday The 1974 world premiere of the 911 Turbo at the Paris Motor Show caused a sensation. We return to a place that saw the dawning of a new era half a century ago to tell a story of boldness, energy, and timeless elegance. The Champs-Élysées and the Élysée Palace are a stone’s throw away as we stroll where Paris is at its most stylish – très chic, one might say. An approving growl emanates from the rear. Level with the ignition on the left, a shop window suddenly appears framed in the color of our car. Eight gold letters tell us it’s the Givenchy fashion house. Porsche Newsroom
Big noise: the Porsche 928 noise test vehicle
#porsche #porsche928 #928 #backtothefuture #madmax #porscheresearch #porscheclassic It looks like something that’s come from the set designers of ‘Mad Max’, or like a prototype time machine from ‘Back to the Future’. But there’s more to it than that. This Porsche 928 is an endurance runner, a rolling test bench with a long history. In the end, it just stood around more and more often, but the team in Weissach didn’t really want to let it go. It felt like it had always been there. And there is probably no employee at the test and development centre who has not come across this silver 928, with its many add-on parts, a car as peculiar as it is unique. The manual transaxle sports car, which went into service in 1989, became what is...

#porsche #911 #porsche911 #porsche911hybrid #911hybrid #germancarforum The first Porsche 911 sports car for the road with a hybrid drive is in the starting blocks. Following an extensive development and testing programme, the new 911 with a performance-focused hybrid drive is ready for series production. “For the first time in our icon’s 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic,” says Frank Moser, Vice President Model Line 911 and 718. “We left nothing to chance during development and tested the new 911 under all sorts of conditions all over the world. From the freezing cold to scorching heat, as was the case during the final stages...
Drive: History and future of the Porsche 911
#porsche #911 #porsche911 #germancars #germancarforum The engine of the Porsche 911 has come a long way over the past 60 years, now with four times the power from twice the displacement. Its drive technology has continued to develop, but the fundamental concept has remained unchanged—whether naturally aspirated, as a turbo, or in the future even as an ultra-sporty hybrid. Porsche laid the foundation for its icon in 1963, when a brand-new sports car made its world premiere at the IAA. At its core was a new six-cylinder at the rear, the first by Porsche. With two-liter displacement, the engine delivered 130 PS, for a top speed of 210 km/h. For the past 60 years, this technical layout has been the starting point for all further...
Luftgekühlt understudy Air|Water takes centre stage in California
#porsche #airwater #luftgekühlt #germancarforum After just one year of sitting second chair, the multi-generational Porsche event Air|Water stepped into the spotlight in Southern California at the weekend. Luftgekühlt has reached iconic status, hosting its air-cooled Porsche-focused show against visually appealing backdrops that draw fans from around the globe. But after 10 editions of Luft, founders Jeff Zwart and ex-Porsche works driver Patrick Long recognized that Porsche enthusiasts weren’t solely interested in air-cooled models, and opted to shake things up. The single-marque gathering tested a new event called Air|Water, as a second day of the 2023 Luftgekühlt event at Mare Island in Northern California. Porsche Newsroom
Streamlining: the standard-setting new Macan
#porsche #macan #porschemacan #germancarforum Whether aerodynamics, connectivity, range, or driving dynamics, the innovations in the new Macan are setting benchmarks. At the same time, Porsche is working toward a strategic milestone with full electrification of this popular series. It’s all down to this line, a mere stroke on paper. And yet it marks a a new beginning. The coupé-like roofline of the Macan and the striking rear—with its shape so typical of Porsche—evoke the tight, unmistakable flyline of the 911. But this time, it’s not just a reminder of the Porsche icon. Rather, the shape, including the rear spoiler, is a groundbreaking innovation in the all-electric SUV segment. “The active aerodynamic elements all contribute...
