The inverted grill is making the new Merc's look sad and ugly. It completely ruined GLC and now E.

I think the face lift GLC looks great I see a few these days initially i thought the pre facelift front was better now when I see them the GLC is stunning the Face lift one.

Sat in a pre-facelift E400 coop the other day. Was bemused to realise that the steering wheel and IP is not centre-aligned with one's nutsack/axe-wound. It's offset to the left in RHD cars.
Wonder if they sorted it out in the facelift (doubt it).

Some comparisons with the pre FL. I'm now convinced that the FL is slightly inferior looking to the pre FL model especially the tail lights. The interior uplifts on the FL such as trim, wheel and MBUX enhance the interior and make it classier in the FL.

The people of the social networks hardly assume positively so fast the change in a car that was in itself one of the best and most beautiful, for which reluctance is normal, is a classic case of need for an IRL by cycle of life and because it is a very popular car (it is very much seen), so within everything, it is a subtle facelift and updates it with techno and design details to generate buzz, bring it to the minds of potential buyers more than anything else.

Like it or not the biggest issue with the Pre FL is it was too similar to the C and S class. At lease now it does differentiate them.

Are you defending turning a good looking car into an ugly mess in order to differentiate it from other models? Cool.

It's similar to an A class now, not sure if that's any better.

New S is going to look like this too, only bigger and with a vertical screen inside.

No i'm not defending nor do I care to it matters not either way but if it matters to you I like the way the new FL in terms of looks and prefer it over the old one but my point was I was making reference to the fact it does make the E-Class look different to the current C and S class at the very least.
The fact that I like it and you may not is a different subject.

Back when the E class had its unique character compared to other Benz models... Body lines clearly evoked solidity and real presence (y)

Anyone knows why Mercedes is making all classes look similar? Next gen S and C will apparently have The same front and back as this new w213 FL based on the spy pics.

Agreed. IMHO, the W212 facelift, with the exception of the W211 facelift, has been the best looking E-Class so far this century. The lines of it are quite brilliant.

The rear doesn't look as good, those smooth lines were perfectly matched to the original tail lamps. But what can you do? There is the new S and C coming out with the new breed of design, they can't sell any E's if it looks a generation behind, which is maybe a few inches longer than the C and a few inches shorter than the S.
