What iDrive interior would you choose? -

Or, if you dislike them all, hate least ;)

3-series:

5-series:

6-series:

7-series:

X5:

It is interesting to note the design cues found in all of these pictures. The 5er, 6er and even the 7er are much more a like than the 3er and the X5. I went with the 3er because I think it flows better, but it was a matter of degree that made me choose the 3er. I would be just as happy with the X5.

I really like BMW's news direction in interior design. It seems to work, flow, and feel better.

I did now, thanks.
You too Yannis.

give me the 6er its hottest the I drive looks really in place there..

IMO, it suits the 5 series the best, but I have to agree that it is integrated the best in the new X5. It's the worst looking in the 6 series (due to the fact that the 6 series interior could have been designed much nicer)

Yup, you took the words out of my mouth. That picture with the carbon fibre with blood red it just distasteful.

It would have been the 3er's or X5's being the best iDrive interior for me.

lol im the only one liking the 6ers idrive.. i have to say i dont like that interior combo either..but as far as the I drive goes it looks good there..and a part of the interior ..:D

Sorry to say, but can't you just look at the shapes and forms of the interior, rather than the colors and combinations?

What do you think? That I don't like it? I love it still in my car, I just think the X5 is even better.

Well I like the X5's interior the most ...but interestingly, it is also the most conservative and least Bangle-esque of the interiors shown.

Klier, you said in another thread that you did not like Audi's interiors -- and yet here, the interior you like the most is much more like Audi's than any other recent BMWs. :t-hands:

IMO, the current BMW interiors will date extremely quickly ...I would be willing to bet on it.

imo, it has totally nothing to do with an Audi, and particularly not the Q7. This interior blends perfectly in the BMW model range. It's a 100% BMW interior, and I see nothing Audi-ish at all.

Not quicker than the button infested interiors of the previous model line. That is so dated now.

Well I'm not at all surprised at your response kiler, but I do believe the BMW interiors are very much of our time -- they are "of the moment", which is better than the current E class's interior which looks at least 10 years out of date (and always did).

As far as the X5's interior is concerned, we will have to agree to disagree on that one klier, I honestly feel BMW have realized the Bangle-look is going to date relatively quickly, so they are already starting to tone it down a little with the newer models so that by the time they come to be replaced, they won't look like they are trapped in a stylistic time warp.

Lets face it, whether you are prepared to admit it or not, Bangle's "flame surfacing" is really a sophisticated styling gimmick, much like tail fins were in the 1950's.

Are you just speaking about the 5er, 7er, and 6er? Or are you including the new X5 and the 3er? or, are you referring to the new X5 and 3er?

you know what i read somewhere about this new idrive in the X5.. it has 6 programmeable buttons.. so whats up with that.. doesent that in a way go against the original i drive idea where one knob does most of the job..

for example the first i drive in the 7er had just the wheel.. and then they added the Menu button.. and now this.. maybe the idea failed then.. but i dont care.. really .. they are making it better...so who am i to complain..

LOL. Maybe they will add more 'favourites' buttons until.. hey, presto, there's just as many buttons as before! :D

Anyhow, I like the X5's as well. I'll stay out of the Bangle interiors debate, but I like how the screen is not only integrated into the top of the centre console controls panel as though it belongs there and not tacked on, but especially how there isn't an extra hump on top. I don't mind the gentle curve - it's quite stylish - but having two humps is just clumsy.

Of course I can, and still, the 6er doesn't do it for me. The centre stack's curvatures look a little messy. Although in real life it does look better, I'm more for the more orderly form they have in the 3er and X5.

All car interiors will age over time, that is inevitable . Even interiors like the Audi A4's --which has been conceived with much effort to keep it as classically modern as possible so that it ages as slowly as possible-- will, in time, look out-of-date. The problem with bold stylistic embellishments is they do tend to age very quickly ...so obviously the most dramatically stylized interiors like the 6er's are most likely to age the quickest.

I really like 6er and new x5's interiors, The 7er's interior could be the best if they used better materials.
