@PanterroR I feel with you! Every week of delay is a torture, if you were already prepared for some date mentally.
Now it seems it has a production slot in the last week of september ...
Just on a sidenote: You are no headup display fan?

I guess that's the semiconductors crisis... though I don't see why M5 would be more affected than other cars
There is disruption and delays across all car manufacturers.

-In July a UK vlogger placed an order for a Macan S.
-He was informed to expect delivery at the end of 2021.
-Two weeks ago he received an update to expect delivery towards the end of Q2 2022!!
-He decided to cancel the order.

Yes it’s bad. An M3 expected for September is now January but pending for further delays.
Think about all those customers whose shiny new cars are held on vessels outside of ports in the US. Waiting to be unloaded.
But you know these are just “high-class” issues.

I did the same.
I'm really sorry mate.
One of the main reasons I ended up with a demo G20 in take-it-or-leave-it spec was because of this exact issue. I was told to expect a wait of 6 - 8 months for a vehicle made to order. What a shite state of affairs.

Yupp. Interestingly the trade in value of my 2019 M140i is a few thousand £s greater then the outstanding finance. However there is no point in selling it. Suitable used replacements are over inflated in price while tend new ones have a looooong lead time.

Porsche SA is apparently desperate for used car stock. The total number of used cars, countrywide across four huge dealerships is a total of 42 - for all models! It's an unheard of dearth of used car stock for as long as I've been "shopping" at Porsche dealerships.
Of those 42 - 21 are 911s, 7 are Coxsters, 7 Cayennes, 3 Taycans, 2 Panameras and 2 Macans.
Of the 21 911s - 7 are GT2 RS(! wtf?) with just one GT3 RS and two 991 GT3s.

New car stock on hand looks to be equally bleak if judging what's in the window is anything to go by.
There's only one Coxster for sale in the Joburg-Pretoria dealers who cover the largest Porsche market in the country by far. Cape Town has 6. It used to be 6 to 10 per dealer!
I hear it's a good time to trade-in as used cars are fetching good prices but I think I'll stick with that bird-in-the-hand philosophy for now.

Worst time possible to buy a new car. Wait a year, if you can. They’re marking up cars that have been on sale for years like the W205 C43. It’s absurd.

M

How f'ing hard is it to build a couple of chip factories one might wonder?

Very hard apparently. Hard enough for major industries to shut down. Absolutely batshit crazy, and we can safely blame ALL our politicians again. Those motherf#cking wankers.

Wait a year, if you can.

Do that and end up with an old 5er within a year.

But if you wait and buy a new 5er it will not be an ICE as we have now. It'll be hybrid or electric.

Major dilemmas lol

The Chip situation will get worse if China makes a play for Taiwan. As will Western Economies.

I am actually surprised that no one has cannibalised press fleets or unsold models.
Do VAG still have fields and football stadiums full of diesel gate VWs and Audi’s in the US?

Don’t worry, China won’t invade Taiwan. All China has to do is blockade Taiwan and it would be game set and match in two, maybe three months at most. The Most worrying (long term) development in the Asia Pacific region is Australia acquiring a fleet of nuclear submarines. It makes Australia fair game for China and a target of China’s ICBMs. Not one country in ASEAN wants hot war in the region and that’s why even Japan has dialled down its anti-China rhetorics. Australia will become a pariah in Asia if it continues to play America’s barking dog against China.

I doubt China-India tensions will come to blows or indeed a protracted conflict. Both country has too much at stake and India is fearful of being soundly beaten by China in any ground battles. One important point Westerners seem to not understand is that India has NO friends in the region - NONE whatsoever. India is all alone and will be naïve to think the West has its back in a war against China.

When you think China is stretching itself a bit thin having to fight on multiple fronts against peer adversaries, just remember that China has nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide. It has to fight and prevail in any and all conflicts. This is where Washington’s calculus on China is dead wrong.

Sorry to go off the tangent.
