The Ferrari F40 was in for its yearly inspection when disaster struck. The inspector crashed it when performing the compulsory test drive of the car.

Damagees for 500 000 SEK

Ferrari passed the inspection without objection.

Although Bilprovningen crashed the car - at a cost of half a million.

- There are better ways to manage an inspection, "says owner Torbjorn von Braun.

Right front is blown away. What remains is only a few red chips lying pell-mell on the asphalt. Treasures - a Ferrari F40 - front gapes empty.

- I have spoken to inspector and he was desperate, "says Torbjörn von Braun, who himself was not with the Bilprovningen in Kinna.

- It's a temperamental car and press a little too hard on the gas, it will pull away.

No trash driving

According to information, it was not reckless driving by the inspector that caused the accident.

Torbjorn von Braun has seen damage to delicious cars before, but never after a visit to the Motor Vehicle Inspection. Half a million crowns, he thinks it will cost to get the car whole again.

Site manager Bengt Andersson is not aware of Ferrari crash, but says that accidents happen infrequently and that it has insurance.
The approval was granted

And nothing hurts not to have a positive effect.

The car was approved without objection.

- Though there are probably easier ways to get a car through, says Torbjörn von Braun.

Well, good old Bilprovningen, this happens from time to time and it is never reckless driving, not once. :D

Wow, what a f__king idiot.

So, will the gov. reimburse the owner?

Yeah, they will have to pay. In other instances it has taken a while for them to do so but eventually he should get the car fixed at the government's expense.

Dealer car;) i think he can handle it..probably has a phat isurance policy and influence at the insurance company...

But its a damn shame nevertheless

Screw that. This is the Govt's fault. They're the ones with a stupid ass policy and now should pay the price for their idiotic mistake. A lesson needs to be learned from this. :usa7uh:

Nooooo why didn't he nail the whole car into a tree...
We want less Ferraris on the road!!

Well good try fellow Ferrari hater!:usa7uh:

It's a Ferrari... fine! It's a F-40... sad! Btw, it's good to have your car crashed by fixed by government! :D

This is only the inspector's fault, not the Gov one. The inspector crashed the car, it's his and only his fault.

Shame to see that wreck. Hope the chassis's fine, only bodyparts need to be changed (sometimes, seemingly "harmless" crahes have bigger implications that it seems at first sight). The F40 is automotive art.

Well, the law to have the inspector drive other people's car is the Gov's fault. And the inspector works for the Gov, so it's ultimately the Gov's liability.

And to make things even more clear; here in Sweden, the employer is, in tort law, responsible, for everything an employee does, in or adjecent to, his or her line of duty. Hence, it is the gorvernment that is liable for any damage done, without the right to regress.

Same law applies here as well, especially for the Gov.

Sure, the Govt is liable. But it is the inspector who did smthg wrong. Even if he won't pay for it. So you can't say the Govt did anything wrong in that case.
