This just more of the same. Audi really need to try something daring whilst still maintaining their brand identity.
B8 to B9 was "more of the same" but this B10 does look like it's actually changing things up imo

From Doug Demuros twitter!! S4 Avant testing in the US! The previous gens didn't test here it must be coming here! So excited. Some others also spotted it today, I'm going up my local mountain to see if I'll catch them testing.

S4 Avant finally spied in Europe with exposed engine bay and interior. Makes me wonder how much of a "spy shot" this is LOL seems more like the driver conveniently letting the photographers take these photos.

Either way, cool to see. Looks like it's retaining the V6 for the S Model and not downgrading to an i4, correct?

Hopefully, it's the swirlyfoil that is successfully veiling a well-defined physique. Unfortunately, recent spyshots are showing Audi prototypes, both A4 as well as A6 etron, that appear to be packing an abundance of "Babyspeck".

...and although most reports are stating that a sedan version of the B10 A4 will be offered, I wonder whether it will actually be more of a Sportback. The current B9 sedan has been the quintessential "dust collector" here in Germany. I see very, very few of those on the road. The B8s and predecessors were relatively popular in sedan form, although the Avants have always ruled in terms of registrations from the B6 onwards.

I have heard some rumours of possible name change for the B10, and it switching to Sportback/Avant/Coupe/Cab only with no sedan. And the EV version also being a sportback and avant only like the A6

I do think the B10 Avant looks significantly better than the A6 E Tron spy shots. Actually looks sleek imo

So far, I agree. I was really smitten by the A6 eTron Sportback concept-and especially so by the A6 Avant eTron concept. Audi spokespersons have been assuring that the production cars will be "an at least 95% reflection" of the concepts. I continue to cross my fingers that this will be accurate. I actually like the "98%" figure that has also been mentioned far more, but find it "optimistic".

Nice to see interior shot and the new A4 has quite an unusual looking 4 spoke wheel, with capacitive buttons. Audi is going for separate instrument and infotainment screens and the instrument screen not hooded as in current models.

The gearlever looks like a small slider unit with no proper gearshift as current model.

Audi is gearing up for the debut of the new generation of the A4 that will reportedly come in sedan, Avant, S4, RS4 and Allroad flavors. Based on the numerous spy shots of the A4, our associates Jean Francois Hubert/SB-Medien created a new rendering accurately depicting how the A4 Avant will look.

Audi is known for its evolutionary approach in terms of exterior design, with each generation looking a lot like the previous one. However, while the new A4 will remain instantly recognizable as such, it will become sexier and sportier thanks to Audi’s new design identity.

Compared to the outgoing A4 that was facelifted in 2019, the new generation will have a shorter and wider Singleframe grille, a more sculpted bumper with taller intakes, and more aggressive headlights with LED graphics inspired by the e-tron GT. The surfacing on the profile will be cleaner, and the rear shoulders more pronounced than before, reminiscent of the RS 6 Avant. Other new features include the new bonnet line that is not touching the headlights anymore, and the slightly sportier windowline as depicted in our previous renderings created by Josh Byrnes.

Inside the cabin, we expect a technological overhaul, with a digital cockpit borrowed from Audi’s EV models. This means that the widely-used 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster could be joined by a much larger touchscreen for the infotainment, bringing more connectivity features to the A4. Audi will also equip the model with its entire ADAS suite, especially in high-end trims.

Dubbed as Audi’s last ICE-powered model in the segment, the A4 will ride on an improved version of the MLB architecture. Engine options will reportedly include a mild-hybrid 2.0 TFSI petrol engine and a more efficient plug-in hybrid powertrain with increased EV range. Audi will keep offering the A4 with a quattro option that will come standard in the crossover-style Allroad.

The S4 has been spotted testing with a V6 TFSI that will probably gain some sort of electrical assistance in the new generation. As for the RS4 performance flagship, it is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid setup, similar to the upcoming Mercedes-AMG C 63 rival and unlike the pure-ICE BMW M3 Touring. For those who prefer BEVs, the automaker will also offer the fully electric A4 e-tron which will be a different model, sharing its PPE architecture with the larger A6 e-tron.

The new Audi A4 is expected to debut before the end of the year, with a market launch in 2023. Rivals will include the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that debuted last year and the recently revealed facelifted BMW 3-Series. Both of them are also offered in more practical wagon bodystyles which retain their popularity as an alternative to bulky SUVs.

I like the first render, it gives the car a rather smooth, elegant and less edgy appearance than the current model.

New interior
A little bit of Tesla Model S similarity with the screen layouts. Lets hope this A4 interior is not just going to look like a tech fest but also a bit luxurious as well.

Autozeitung info (Google translate)

The Audi A4 Avant (2024) is based on the further developed modular longitudinal platform. In addition to six-cylinders, plug-in hybrids and quattro all-wheel drive are also part of the range, as is the popular S Line. We have the first photos of an Erlkönig.

Fans of the A4 have to be patient: the renewal of the Audi A4 Avant is not planned for 2024 at the earliest, despite the first photos of a prototype. Although the current generation was presented in 2015, the brand only renovated its mid-range so thoroughly in 2019 that it will be fit until almost the middle of the current decade. The successor has a much bolder design with a wider and flatter single-frame grille. The classic Avant proportions culminate in a dynamic outlet, which even adorns visible tailpipes on the prototype. What is certain is that the A4 remains true to the modular longitudinal matrix (MLB). The larger A6 is also based on it. In the future, both series are to be technically even closer together so that more identical parts can be used, especially in the non-visible area. While the most important designs are set with the sedan and the Audi A4 Avant (2024), there is a big question mark behind the convertible version of the next A5. The underlying coupe and the five-door A5 Sportback, on the other hand, have good chances of being renewed. The same applies to the popular equipment variant S Line. The digitization of the model series is very important during development. The number of innovations to be expected, for example for environmental communication, new 5G-based services and services - the car learns to do this using artificial intelligence - will be so high that major updates will no longer be tied to model changes or facelifts, but about every two Years are done - mostly "over the air", i.e. online without a visit to the workshop.

S LINE & QUATTRO: FIRST INFORMATION & PHOTOS OF THE AUDI A4 AVANT (2024)
In contrast to Mercedes, Audi is sticking to the classic drives in the Audi A4 Avant (2024). At least the RS version - in the current A4 Avant with a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo petrol engine with 450 hp (331 kW) - will retain a six-cylinder, if only to meet the BMW M models on an equal footing. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel (286 hp/210 kW and 347 hp/255 kW) is likely to be replaced by a hybrid four-cylinder TDI. In order to reduce fleet consumption, Audi will continue to rely on the clean and extremely economical 2.0-liter turbo diesel (currently 136 hp/100 kW to 204 hp/150 kW) and on mild, full and plug-in -Hybrid. The "TFSI e" plug-in hybrid should offer an electric range of more than 70 kilometers. The now mandatory quattro all-wheel drive will also be available in the latest A4 generation. Similar to the A6, there will also be an A4 e-tron on the new PPE electric platform parallel to the A4 with MLB basis, which is very flexible in terms of technical design (number of motors and driven axles, output, battery capacity). The A4 e-tron will initially be launched as a hatchback with a large tailgate, but an estate version (Avant) is also conceivable. It is still too early to price the next Audi A4 Avant (2024). The predecessor starts with a 150 hp (110 kW) petrol engine and manual transmission at 38,450 euros (as of August 2022).

This A4 will be heavily delayed when its launched in 2023/2024, like 8 to 9 years after current model was launched in 2015. Just don't understand why Audi are delaying its launch. Will all models be PHEV?

Yeah, still no sedan spyshots.

There are rumors about merging A5 sportback and A4 sedan in one model, probably called A4 sportback. IMO that makes sense.

And then, who knows what will happen with A5 range.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
