that’s not very impressive, the world records for the three weight classes below her are better than she achieved.

Sorry - I "hate" sumo deadlift. I'm happy, that no one in the "open class" - so the real monsters :p are doing this! They all do classic deadlift. Thor has done 501 classic style, Eddie did the 500kgin classic style ... and all the upcoming contenders are all using classic style. Thanks God!

In Strongman (Thor, Eddie) you have to use conventional. Powerlifting allows conventional or sumo. Sumo isn't as easy as people imagine, way harder off the ground, way harder on the lower body, it tends to be people with poor lower body strength who complain about it, or people with dwarf legs who basically get to cheat in squat.

With lower body, you mean lower back or legs (glutes, hamstrings, quads)?

Below the waist, so yeah legs. I do both and I can tell you sumo is not easy, some days it feels harder, some days easier. The only thing definitely easier about it for me is the grip because my arms can go down perpendicular to the bar. For a 1RM I'm probably better at conventional (although I don't do 1RMs), for sets minus straps, the grip make sumo the one to go for. Sumo massively improves your conventional speed off the ground, I combine that with conventional RDLs for lockout.

It's funny how power-lifters all look overweight, but they are immensely strong.

Yes. I see it like you. Take f.i. Lasha! He looks not like a superman. But he is so absolutely insane. I adore him.

Even this guy?

It really depends on the weight division, there are 7 stone girls who can deadlift 200kg. Also, Lasha is a weigtlifter not a powerlifter but the same applies, take Klokov who competed in the 105kg class. It's usually only the unlimited weight class where people look overweight.

I don’t even think he had it up for even a second before it was down, it’s piss poor judging, it would be be counted in only lifting.
