Just another idea. The TFT screen could be part of some kind of technology package option which includes night vision etc, and with that you get the TFT screen.

That could be possible, but wouldn't a TFT screen replacing the standard gauges, require a different dashboard?

Maybe. It was just an idea as to why they're testing a C-Class with a TFT screen. BMW have a precedent. The current F10 5 Series and F01 7 Series have the option of a full TFT screen in place of the standard analogue displays, although the way that is implemented could be a lot easier than it appears in the C-Class.

Maybe MB will introduce an all new TFT screen with a slightly redesigned dashboard, as to accommodate the said screen, with the new model year. Similar changes have happened in the past.

It's just a guess... but I think they will bring this S-Class tech, but revise it to fit in the C-Class. They wouldn't redesign the dash already. Though I am excited to see how the C-Coupe turns out.
