C-Class W206 [Spy Shots] 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 spied pics & info thread

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Current C and S (w222) are quite different inside.

Yes true in some ways but the way they going they are making it more closer by each generation...I don't like it I feel the C ...E ...and S should have a little changes but yeah seems MB are totally following Audi...BMW from these three is the only one who seems to have a little differences..well more then Mercedes for sure.

New C-class is going to look great. New engines are more powerful and probably 10% or more lighter on fuel which is good. This new model is as long as a W124 Eclass at 4.75m compared to 4.74m and its 2865mm wheelbase is even 11mm longer than the W211 E-class! The engineer mentioned its just 10mm wider so about 1.82m or about the same as W211. Good that the interior has more space with 35mm more legroom at the rear and more head and shoulder room.

Mercedes equips all engines of the new C-Class with ISG - all engines are completely new.

The first details about the new C-Class are now known. Normally a new series starts with known engines and only partially new engines. But things will be different with the C-Class W206.

For the first time, the C-Class sedan and T-model start at the same time.

World premiere of the C-Class (W / S206): 02/23/2021

Order confirmation C-Class (W / S206): 30.03.2021

Delivery of C-Class (W / S206): June 2021

Details about engines:

All petrol engines get the M254 with 48 volt integrated starter generator, and all diesel engines get the new OM654M with integrated starter generator. This means that all motors are 48 volts. The integrated starter generator - ISG for short - is located between the engine (located on the crankshaft) and the gearbox. It not only replaces the belt drive starter motor, but is also suitable for retrofit, healing and sailing, thus reducing consumption.

Compared to the 48-volt RSG (belt starter generator), which has just 14 hp and still stands where the starter is, the ISG can power up and support the combustion engine across the entire speed range. With RSG this only runs up to approximately 2,500 rpm

C 180 M254 DE 15 (1.5 liters) 170 HP + 20 HP ISG

C 200 M254 DE 20 (2.0 liters) 204 HP + 20 HP ISG

C 300 M254 DE 20 (2.0 liters) 258 HP + 20 HP ISG

All three petrol engines have an over boost function on the M254 with increased boost pressure (about 27 hp) on the turbocharger. If the exhaust gas temperature rises above a certain threshold value, the over boost function will be disabled. This means that it is usually available for 20-30 seconds.

The over boost function is available for all three petrol engines from the C 180 to C 300.

The extreme upgrade performance is not included in the performance information listed above.

It comes as OM654M for diesel engines.

This means that there is a second SCR-Kat in the lower body (including additional Adblue injection) and increased injection pressure to 2,700 bar. In addition, like the M254, the OM654M is coupled with a 20 hp 48 volt ISG.

C200d OM654M 163 HP + 20 HP ISG

C 220d OM654M 200 HP + 20 PS ISG

C 300d OM654M 265 HP + 20 PS ISG

When the order starts there will be three engines:

The gasoline engine will start with the C 200. Diesels will start with the C 220d and C 300d. 4MATIC, C180 or C200d will arrive in 3 months.

Plug-in hybrid models (petrol and diesel) will also be launched in 2021.

They have CCS DC fast charging option. The battery will be about 25 kWh, thus providing an electrical range of 100 km.

The C-Class is equipped with full LED headlights as standard.

The newly known DIGITAL Light from the S-Class is available as an option.

The MBUX navigation system is standard. A 9-inch square monitor is fitted to the center console as standard (here with a fixed climate control unit), with an optional 11.9-inch MBUX display. Here the air conditioning is then controlled via the MBUX screen.

The C-Class has optional front massage seats.

What's new compared to the S-Class is that the MBUX center display is tilted 6 degrees towards the driver.

New C-Class with "light" rear axle steering

The new C-Class is losing its optional air suspension (because the installation rate for the current C-Class was 6% in 2014 and only 1% in 2020), but it has 2.5 degrees of rear axle steering. It cannot be compared to the S-Class's 10 degrees rear axle steering. It is not primarily designed for greater maneuverability in the city, but increases directional stability while rapidly changing direction by steering the rear axle over 80 km / h in the same direction.

The turning circle due to steering of the rear axle is reduced from 11.0 m to 10.6 m by 40 cm and is approximately 10 cm better than the first C Class W202 (1993).

The wheelbase grows by about 2.5 cm. There is about 3.5 cm more space in the back. Outer length is 4.75 m.

The C-Class receives a modified driver assistance package, but without the Level 3 option as intended for the new S-Class.

The coupé and convertible will no longer be available either. Then the E-Class has a joint series with the Coupé and Convertible. It will be called CLE and will be built in Bremen.

By the way, there is no longer an Exclusive Line with stars on the hood in Europe.

Please, tell me, that this info is not coming directly from Daimler.

No, exactly the opposite. The normal starter is located on the side of the flywheel and the RSG is located on the other side of the engine, where the belt pulley is.

The car is looking great. I hope the reduction in the design complexity of the doors Etc. translates to a more solid build.

With the deletion of airmatic, I wonder if you will be able to get the AMG sport package with the comfort suspension set up as you can do in BMW's. Unfortunately I think even if it's possible in Europe, MB Oz will force us to take the sports suspension.

Just read this in Car and Driver's article: " And second, Daimler will no longer offer a classic grille with a hood-mounted star—unless you live in China, where the not-for-export long-wheelbase version still comes with the heritage look"

Very sad if true.

Details on the Mercedes C-Class Plug in hybrid 320 HP

Now there is more information on the new Mercedes C-Class (W206), including a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of 100 km. C 300e with 320 PS and 650 NM Battery capacity doubles to around 26 kWh (100 km range as well).

It will be DC-CCS capable of fast charging.

As before, the system output is 320 PS, but now 650 NM. W205 still had 700 nautical miles.

This indicates that the power of the internal combustion engine was reduced and the power of the electric motor increased a full corner from the current 122 hp. This means that the system performance electrical component increases. The slogan here has been true for a while: high-powered high-range plug-in hybrid. The S-Series generates approximately 150 hp of electrical power from 28.6 kWh. It's still exciting.

The C 300e plug-in hybrid will be launched in the fall of 2021.

A diesel plug-in hybrid will then follow - a unique selling point for Mercedes-Benz.

There are also more details about the interior: The augmented reality head-up display of the new S-Class could not be integrated into the W206's instrument cluster due to lack of space. However, the previous head-up display has been enlarged 4 times in the display area approximately 4.50 m in front of the vehicle.

The instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is familiar from the S-Class. On the other hand, there will not be the optional 3D variant of the instrument cluster like on the S-Class.

So, the C300e, C43 and C63 will be hybrids. I wonder how the C300e and C43 will differ in power output.
