IN SERIES, PLEASE: FIRST PICTURES OF THE CONCEPT EQT!
With the Concept EQT, Mercedes-Benz Vans is already showing a concrete outlook on its first premium vehicle for family and leisure-oriented private customers in the small van segment: the T-Class and its fully electric variant. And one thing in advance: the near-series concept vehicle could well have been brought to the customer as a series model - only the gearshift lever in the interior could have been solved better.
Concept EQT with typical EQ front
The Concept EQT that has now been presented is immediately recognizable as a member of the Mercedes-EQ family. Balanced proportions and sensual surface design characterize the design. Muscular shoulders and pronounced wheel arches emphasize strength and emotionality. The characteristic and EQ-typical black panel front with LED headlights flows seamlessly out of the bonnet and shines with a star pattern. The stars with a 3D effect stretch in different sizes from the front over the 21-inch, high-sheen light alloy wheels and the panorama roof to the e-longboard in the rear. There is also a light strip that connects the LED headlights and the LED rear lights. In combination with the vehicle paintwork in high-gloss black, a fascinating contrast is created that creates a particularly high-quality aesthetic.
Double-sided sliding doors - single seats in the third row
The Concept EQT (length / width / height: 4,945 / 1,863 / 1,826 millimeters) has sliding doors that open particularly wide on both sides so that the two fully-fledged individual seats in the third row can be easily reached. In the second row of seats, three child seats can be installed next to each other. A panorama roof with a lasered starry sky ensures a light-flooded interior. Its elegant bottle shape, which narrows from front to back, also creates an optical length. The steep rear with a comfortable, upright tailgate and window enables a particularly spacious cargo area. If you need more space, the seats in the third row can be folded down or removed. There is enough space for strollers, dog carriers and other leisure equipment.
Electric longboard in the hold
The large amount of space and the high variability for families and leisure activities with a lot of luggage or sports equipment illustrates the concept vehicle with a surprising solution - an electric longboard integrated in the cargo area. It is located in a double floor under a cover made of Plexiglas, which is enclosed in an aluminum frame and flush with the load compartment floor. The electric longboard, also made of aluminum, looks particularly elegant thanks to the star pattern.
Sustainable materials
The interior of the Concept EQT is just as emotional and stylish as the exterior - characterized by an elegant contrast in black and white. The seats are covered with white nappa leather, the braided leather applications on the seat mirror are made of incorporated recycled leather. The dashboard is a particular eye-catcher in the interior. The upper part is shaped as a wing profile that looks like a washed-out pebble and merges dynamically with the instrument cluster. Above the instrument cluster there is a practical, semi-closed storage compartment for quick access to important utensils or documents. In addition, round ventilation nozzles in high-gloss black, galvanized trim and the multifunction steering wheel with touch control buttons underline the high-quality and modern look.
Mercedes-Benz user experience in the small van area
The infotainment system MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) brings the innovative operating and display concept to the small van segment. The system can be conveniently operated using the free-standing central display with touch function, the touch control buttons on the steering wheel and, optionally, the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. Its ability to learn is unique thanks to artificial intelligence. Thanks to forecast functions, for example, MBUX can anticipate what the driver would like to do next. For example, if you often phone a certain person on the way home on Fridays, their phone number is suggested on the display on that weekday. Other highlights from MBUX in conjunction with Mercedes me connect include live traffic information and over-the-air updates.
The T-Class is coming in 2022 - the commercial Citan and e-Citan will come in 2021
The new T-Class, which will be launched on the market in 2022, complements the portfolio in the small vans segment alongside the commercially positioned Citan, which this year will celebrate its premiere including a fully electric version. The fully electric version for private customers will follow later.
